Why have AK-47's and Snipers Rifles all of a sudden started becoming super popular??

Every 4 or so questions is about an AK-47......(Dont get me wrong, they are pretty cool....)

And every 7 or so questions is about Snipers Rifles...?

Why have they become so popular so FAST???

  1. First it isn't all of a sudden as they have come and gone since the Vietnam War. they are most popular and now again because of TV movies the media and also because politicians bring them up and label them and try to outlaw them.

They have a curiosity about them as being either elitist in the case of the sniper rifle genre and a weapon of an enemy force and communist mainstay weapon. The AK is and always has been an effective lead spewer but the ammo is accurate and effective enough. As a matter of fact for Good Ol' Florida Swamp Boy  I have used the AK for white tail hunting and am no where near a novice. Though semi-auto a clean single shot each time the 2 shot with the AK so it is possible and I use it in areas of brush shooting where the relatively short weapon can swing quickly. It is legal and effective as is any weapon designed for killing in the hands of an experienced hunter/marksman.

    But I digress.

  2. People hear and see in the liberal media that type of firearm.

The movies use them as if they where another character in the movie.

    Video games inundate the image.

Kids, both young and old, who know nothing about firearms other that what they see on TV or on the X-box what to have something to talk about.

Thus they talk about what they think they know about, AK and Sniper rifles.

I would sum it up as talk about what you know and all they know is AK and sniper

  3. Video Games....... Yes thats it..... The problem is that these games are influencing the minds of young people that need to get out more often... Instead of socializing with young women or going out and doing something constructive they are playing killing games. I wonder how many of the weak minded of these children will be nagatively influenced.....

  4. The quick safe answer is Video Games. But it seems that scoped deer rifles capable of sniper duty widely distributed in the hands of hunters, folks known for conservative and traditional values, may soon be the only deterrent to a Socialist "overnight" takeover, because of all the phony Democrats coming into power. One gun as a deterrent beats 100 guns after things get testy. Regards, Larry.

  5. its not so much video games, yes a part but it's more the media. you see them in every TV show, in every news report, all over the tv. People are more visual and want what looks good and will do the job. The people buying them are the ones more likely to to fantasize about being in that firefight as coming out ahead holding that piece of machinery that can lay down a hail of lead and a blaze of glory.

  6. two words........video games

  7. video games,moives,air soft.

  8. Well, just because there are questions on here does not mean that they are becoming popular it is mainly people just asking about them to see what people would say they are not actually considering buying them it's very immature. And then the slim chance of someone acctually considering it would have to be new at hunting and they think they can handle any gun and figure that hunting with an AK or a Sniper they will go out to the woods and get a shot at an animal from over 400 yards with the sniper and if they do use an AK they would probablly end up shooting the animal 20 some times and destroy the meat and hide.

  9. Video games and media attention gets attention from Hollywood and Hollywood is the new age religion of the west spreading it's influence worldwide

    But I have to add

Most of the guns I have have a Hollywood influence behind them

I had to have two identical 1911s because of Last Man Standing

A brace of snubs because of a movie that I can't even remember the name of

1897 shotguns from The Wild Bunch

A winchester 73 because of the movie Winchester '73

I eventually grew out of it but wish sometimes  I still had some of those old guns

Ruger expanded his empire based on the popularity of 60's Westerns

Dirty Harry single handedly made the Model 29 Smith one the most popular guns of the 70's and the influence is still there today

  10. TV, movies, video games and yada.  Pretty and flashy and so on.  All of the above are escape from the real world we live and work and sweat in.  Would you be half as interested in a broom that is used to sweep out the sawdust and dirt from the garage?  Or opening your power bill?  Or how you feel when your gas credit card bill comes?  I rest my case.
