Sudha Kalyani D. sends Riya Gajjar packing in second round – Badminton news
India’s talented player, Sudha Kalyani D., continued her winning run in Girl’s Singles U19 second round and outplayed Riya Gajjar in a crushing way at All India Junior Ranking Tournament 2013 on Thursday, June 27, in Hyderabad.
The in-form Sudha, who has been putting up strong show in this ranking tournament, played with staggering precision and managed to overpower her compatriot in a spectacular manner in just 25 minutes.
The 11th seed Sudha was in tremendous form as she impressed the crowd with her aggression and remained successful in finishing this contest in straight sets with a remarkable 21-13 and 21-13 score on the board.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Riya tried to employ all of her skills in the starting set but failed to maintain her speed. She lost her focus and eventually bowed down against Sudha without getting a respectable score.
The starting points were quite thrilling when both participants displayed their aggressive skills and managed to progress closely. They used their attacking skills frequently and did not miss any chance to finish rallies.
However, it was Sudha who started to pace up rallies by increasing her speed. She executed well-directed smashes and managed to grab a wonderful lead on the scoreboard until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Sudha injected more power into her shots. She targeted the frontcourt areas by taking the bird early and moved her lower ranked rival in all corners of the court.
The impressive Sudha continued playing planned badminton in the concluding points of opening game and managed to end up the first set with a comfortable score of 21-13.
In the second game, Sudha was everywhere on court as she easily controlled the pace of rallies and kept her rival under pressure. She took a wonderful lead this time until the end of opening half.
After the interval, the lofty Sudha continued showing up her brilliance from all corners of the court. She stayed fully focused all the way in the second game and easily wrapped it up with a stunning 21-13 score on the board.
