Sudket Prapakamol, Saralee Thoungthongkam clear opening round of Singapore Open – Badminton news
Thailand’s Mixed Doubles team Sudket Prapakamol-Saralee Thoungthongkam cleared its first hurdle in Li Ning Singapore Open and marched into pre quarter-finals on June 19, 2013.
This opening round encounter put them against Chan Yun Lung-Tse Ying Suet and both pairs challenged each other throughout this three-set game. This meeting prolonged to 50 minutes before ending with decisive figures of 19-21, 21-14 and 21-19.
Initially, the Hong Kong shuttlers played impeccable badminton and established an early lead in match score position but then the opposing duo showed a transformed character and turned the tables with a staggering knock.
In first set of the match, Yun Lung and Ying Suet showed superb coordination and confounded the opposing team. Both shuttlers raised their chances of success by prevailing in the preliminary stage and then strengthened their grip over game with an overwhelming
total before the interval.
After the one-minute break, Yun Lung and Ying Suet lost focus for a short span of time and allowed their competitors to narrow the gap on points table. However, they reinstated the supremacy when it mattered and win this crucial game with 21-19 margin.
The following game yielded different result as the Thai duo stormed back with a strong reply and tipped the scale in its favour. This time the twosome of Sudket and Saralee looked in prime touch as they did not make even a simple mistake and gained a decent
advantage in no time.
They kept on moving forward at steady pace and left their challengers far behind with a figure of 11. After the mid-game break, both Mixed Doubles partners injected more intensity in their attack and confined the opposing shuttlers in rear court.
At first, they mounted pressure with few back-to-back productive rallies and then magnified the impact by registering a winning total of 21-14.
This development made the decider a tough trial for both pairs as they badly needed this final match point. The game kept swinging between them all the way to final moments as neither of them could enjoy a permanent lead.
However, Sudket and Saralee managed to strike hard when it was needed and won the encounter with a tight yet decisive score of 21-19.
