Sudket Prapakamol, Saralee Thoungthongkam surge into quarter-finals – Macau Open Update
Mixed Doubles duo Sudket Prapakamol-Saralee Thoungthongkam of Thailand stretched their winning streak and marched into the quarter-finals of Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold on November 29, 2012.
They outshined the Korean team Shin Baek Choel-Eom Hye Won by registering a favourable margin of 21-18 and 21-15.
Though, this encounter ended in just two games but still both pairs tested each others’ skills for 46 minutes in the local badminton arena of Macau.
World Number five duo Sudket- Saralee ruled the court in most part of the game and reserved right to be in the round of eight where the Indonesian couple Riky Widianto-Puspita Richi Dili will be waiting for them.
Both Thai shuttlers will employ their valuable experience which they have earned through an unbeatable run in the preliminary stages.
In the pre quarter-final round, Sudket and Saralee looked at top of their game as they sealed a splendid straight-set victory.
They took some time to read their rivals’ strategy in first set of the match but still managed to end this crucial segment of the showdown in a favourable manner.
Initially, Baek Choel and Hye Won prevailed in couple of uninterrupted rallies and established a decent lead.
However, the team was unable to keep their momentum which allowed their challengers to come back in to the match-up.
Sudket and Saralee did not fritter away this opportunity and piled up a respectable total of 11 before the interval.
They played with similar precision in later part of the game and bagged this valuable match point with 21-18 margin.
The second seeded Thai team capitalised the first set win and dominated their competitors also in the following game.  
Sudket and Saralee played cautiously in the beginning and allowed the opposing team to stay close until 6-5.
However, they gathered some pace and left their rivals far behind with a decent figure of 11-7 in the first half.
After the one-minute break, Sudket and Saralee played with an authoritative approach and kept the Korean players at the lower end.
They widened the gap by registering 16-11 score in third quarter of the set and then swept the table with a staggering knock of 21-15.
