Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thoungthongkam march into second round – Singapore Open 2013
Mixed Doubles experts Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thoungthongkam started their campaign in perfect manner and gained access to the second round of Li Ning Singapore Open after winning their opening match on
June 19, 2013.
They were up against the twosome of Chan Yun Lung-Tse Ying Suet and this tussle remained in full swing for 50 minutes. Both teams challenged each other in all areas of game and ended this encounter with a nerve-racking
result of 19-21, 21-14 and 21-19.
Initially, the Hong Kong shuttlers ruled the court but then the Sudket-Saralee showed their class and prevailed in the ending two games.
The first set of match started with couple of gruelling rallies as both duos made every effort to establish an initial lead. They pushed each other in all areas of the court but neither of them could gain an
early advantage.
However, the third quarter of the set brought something to cheer for Yun Lung and Ying Suet, as they managed to claim many valuable points in a row. They maintained a respectable lead all the way to the game
point situation and won this crucial set with 21-19 score.
The story was entirely different in the following game, as this time the Thai campaigners attacked with full force and kept their competitors grounded. They started the beating from very first stroke and their
power packed strokes confined Yun Lung-Ying Suet in the rear court.
Sudket and Saralee kept on pocketing vital points and wrapped the first half of the set with a figure of 11. They did not lose focus in latter parts of the game and managed to avoid a straight-set defeat with
scoreboard flashing 21-14 margin.
With this development, both teams were subjected to a tough trial as they had to win third set to continue their journey in this prestigious tournament. The decider proved the best part of this encounter as both
pairs put all they had to avoid a woeful exit.
Initially, they remained equal on the points table and did not allow each other to enjoy a permanent lead. However, the Thai duo struck hard in latter part of the game and tipped the scale in its favour. Sudket
and Saralee raised hands as victors after putting a decisive total of 21-19.
