Seattle Storm’s guard Sue Bird continued to be a phenomenon in the 2011 Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) regular season. Bird participated in all the 34 games played by Seattle and ended the regular season with an
average of 14.7 points, 4.9 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game.
The 31-year-old played tremendously throughout the whole season and improved her career average of 11.1 points per game. Here is a review of the fifteen best performances of Bird, who was voted by fans as one of the Top 15 players
in the fifteen-year history of the league.
June 4, 2011 – Seattle Storm vs. Phoenix Mercury
Sue Bird opened the regular season with an outstanding double-double. The seven-time WNBA All-Star tallied 13 points and handed out a game-high 10 assists as Seattle opened the 2011 season with a 78-71 win over of the Phoenix Mercury.
Bird also grabbed four rebounds and stole the ball three times in 35 minutes of action.
June 9, 2011 – Seattle Storm vs. Minnesota Lynx
Although Storm were defeated by Minnesota Lynx 81-74 on June 9 at the Key Arena, however Bird played one of her best games of the season. The veteran guard racked up a game-high 24 points and dished out three assists in the losing
effort. Trailing by 25 points after three, Bird chipped in 16 points in the last quarter, only for a late Lynx push to ruin her efforts.
June 21, 2011 - Seattle Storm vs. Tulsa Shock
Bird spearheaded the Storm to an enthralling 82-77 win over Tulsa Shock on June 21 at the BOK Center. The All-Star guard headed all scorers with 21 points, six assists and two steals. Seattle trailed 37-31 at halftime; however,
Bird took the charge aggressively in the third quarter and landed seven points as Storm took control at 61-50.
July 5, 2011 – Seattle Storm vs. Indiana Fever
Playing against Indian Fever on July 5 at the Conseco Fieldhouse, the defending WNBA Champions Seattle Storm were comprehensively crushed (78-61), but Sue Bird stood out with a game-high 21 points, haunting the Fever throughout
the game.
Bird also dished out five assists and grabbed three rebounds in more than 33 minutes of action. The veteran guard scored eight points in the second quarter, including two shots from the three-point range. She shot 7 for 9 from
the field, including an impressive 5 for 6 from downtown and 2 for 2 from free throw line.
