July 12, 2011 – Seattle Storm vs. Washington Mystics
Sue Bird produced a game-best 22 points and dished out three assists as Seattle edged out the Washington Mystics 79-71 on July 12 in front of 13,384 basketball fans.
Bird scored 15 of her points in the first half of the game as Storm carried a 43-37 lead into the locker room. The 31-year-old made eight of 14 shots overall, including 2 for 4 from 3-point range. The Wizards fought hard in the
fourth quarter and trimmed Seattle’s lead to just five, 76-71, with 02:08 remaining in the game. However, Bird responded with a lay-up and a free throw to seal the victory.
July 19, 2011 – Seattle Storm vs. Chicago Sky
On July 19 at the Allstate Arena, the two-time WNBA Champion tallied a game best 26 points in Seattle’s 78-69 loss against Chicago Sky.
In addition to a 26-point spurt, the player also pulled down four rebounds, dished out four assists and stole the ball twice in more than 36 minutes of action. She hit 10 for 23 from the floor on the night, including 4 for 8 from
three-point range and 2 for 3 from the free throw line.
The seven-time WNBA All-Star scored four consecutive points in the last minute of the second quarter to put Strom ahead by 33-30 at intermission. Trailing by 52-47 with 01:39 to go in the third quarter, the 31-year-old slipped
with a lay-up and then followed with a three-pointer, tying the game at 52. However, Sky were just too good for Strom on the night and rolled onto a 9 point win.
July 26, 2011 – Seattle Storm vs. Phoenix Mercury
On July 26 at the US Airways Center, Bird scored a team high 18 points along with seven assists as Seattle took over Phoenix Mercury 83-77.
The 31-year-old recorded 10 points, five assists and three steals in the first half of the game to help keep her team close, which trailed by as many as 11 points. Bird also grabbed five boards and stole the ball three times in
more than 33 minutes of action.
