July 30, 2011 – Seattle Storm vs. Tulsa Shock
On July 30, Sue Bird led Seattle to an impressive 89-72 victory over Tulsa Shock. On the night, displayed an all round performance which definitely ranked as her best of the season. Pitched up against a woeful defence, she landed
29 points, dealt out seven assists, grabbed six rebounds and stole the ball twice. The player was 8 of 14 from the field, including 3 for 5 from three-point range and a perfect 10 of 10 at the free throw line.
August 2, 2011 – Seattle Storm vs. San Antonio Silver Stars
Sue Bird landed a game-high 17 points and dished out five assists as Seattle Storm edged out the San Antonio Silver Stars 78-64 on August 2 at the Key Arena.
Bird rebounded a missed free throw by Jayne Appel before the third-quarter buzzer, dribbled down the court and pulled up for a three-pointer that provided a lift at just the right time for the Seattle.
Her three-pointer even impressed the Silver Stars Coach Dan Hughes. “Yeah, that one really hurt us.” “She is a good player and is going to make those shots. That gave them some separation to play with after we had gotten back into
it.”
August 5, 2011 – Seattle Storm vs. Connecticut Sun
Playing at home, Bird racked up a team-high 20 points, including a game-winning 3-pointer right at the buzzer, to lead her team to a thrilling 81-79 victory against the Connecticut Sun.
The player also grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists in more than 34 minutes. Bird shot an impressive 7 for 15 from the field, including 4 for 7 beyond the arc as Seattle moved into sole possession of second place
in the Western Conference.
August 9, 2011 – Seattle Storm vs. New York Liberty
In a hard-fought 58-56 defeat against the New York Liberty on August 9, Seattle’s guard played well by scoring a team-high 17 points along with four rebounds and four assists.
Bird ended the night on 6 for 18 shooting from the field, including a brilliant 5 for 9 from three-point range.
