Sue Kim ready to battle for LPGA card
Sue Kim is more than happy to find yet another chance for the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) card, as the ambitious golfer is set to start her first round of qualifying (Q) school
at Daytona Beach, Florida, this Wednesday.
Kim is no stranger to the intensity of the competition as she has taken part in the LPGA Q school twice before, but could not make it to the next level. However, the coming battle at Daytona
Beach is sure to change the trend for the young talent as she has vowed to do something amazing for her fans.
Kim has been performing well in her career and has put together a solid profile, but in order to move to the LPGA Tour, she will have to reshape her game, especially short one.
On the Symetra Tour, the rising star played her best but was not able to finish inside the top 10 on the money list—something she desperately needed to earn herself the LPGA Tour card.
However, her overall performance was not woeful, as she recorded 4 top-10 finishes. Although there were some lapses that also saw her miss the cut in two events, Kim has put herself in a comfortable
position compared with her peers.
Sharing her thoughts about her performance on the Symetra Tour, Kim said that she might not have been able to finish inside the top 10 on the money list, but she is satisfied with the way
she battled rivals in most of the tournaments.
“This year was a real learning experience for me,” said the 21-year-old who finished 23rd on the money list and pocketed nearly $22,000.
“It was my first time playing on a tour for a full season and I had my mom with me which was a great support. I was able to focus on golf and not worry about all the other stuff that comes
with travelling”.
Speaking about her game, Kim said that she has fixed flaws in her putting and she is now in a position to tackle pressure on the course. “I did play a lot better and I think my course management
really improved”.
