Suffolk Downs reschedules race for 17th July, 2012, due to rise in temperatures
Due to the rise of temperatures, extreme heat and humidity, the races taking place at Suffolk Downs on 17th July, 2012, have been cancelled.
The National Weather Service reported that Boston will have a temperature of 97 degrees with winds up to 16 miles per hour. Due to this, all racing events have been cancelled for the day, which works in interest of all the runners.
Chief operating officer of the track stated to the media that:
"The health and safety of our athletes are always of foremost concern.”
He further added:
“After consulting with our veterinarians, horsemen, and jockeys, it was clear that canceling Tuesday’s card was the prudent course of action.”
Several claiming races took place at Suffolk Downs on 16th July, 2012. Fortheloveof Anna, trained by Timothy Salisbury, has participated in two, but won one at Suffolk Downs in an impressive manner.
The daughter of Pleasant Tap, foaled by Smarten mare Smartullah, went into the next race at Suffolk Downs with the same composure and secured another terrific victory in a Claimers race held on 16th July, 2012, which covered
a distance of 7 ½ furlongs.
Teamed with rider Davis Amiss, the filly defeated, Winery, and completed the race in 1 minute and 34.43 seconds.
On 30th June, 2012, the Mark Looney owned filly competed in an Allowance Optional Claimer, at about six furlongs.

With the help of jockey, David Amiss, the filly managed to deliver a decent performance with a fourth place finish.

She was defeated by, Surely Irish, who defeated, Breathtakingbreeze, in second whereas the third place was secured by Broadway Marquee, who was under the command of jockey, Erik Barbaran.
The Peter C. Wasel trained, Facsimile, also bagged a victory at Suffolk Downs on 16th July, 2012, when he competed in the Maiden Claimers, which covered a distance of six furlongs.
The son of Cutlass Fax, out of mare, Little Slam, was mounted by rider Jean Medina and defeated Boy Roma in 1 minute and 15.48 seconds.
The scheduled races of 17th July, 2012, will resume on 18th July, 2012.
