Sugar Boy to take on Ruler Of The World in Irish Derby – Horseracing news
Sugar Boy is being prepared to take on Ruler Of The World in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the end of this month. Both runners are highly talented and will definitely get the attention of the bookies for the major event.
Trainer Patrick Prendergast revealed about his stallion, “Sugar Boy has thrived since the Sandown race. The horse would like a bit of juice in the ground but either way he is a definite runner and I can see him running a very big race.”
In his most recent outing at Sandown, Sugar Boy was not given the best odds for victory, but he was still expected to be competitive. He ran a brilliant race in the end and finished on top of the table by a head distance. He was ridden really well and did
not have any stamina issues in the race, which was over one mile.
The three-year-old runner has taken part in a total of eight races until now and has managed to keep a very good winning percentage. There was only one time in his career, when he dropped out of the top-three, but other than that, his performances have been
up to the mark.
The 2013 season has been a good one for Sugar Boy until now and he will be looking to carry on with the same sort of form in the upcoming races. However, things will not be easy for him against Ruler Of The World, who is a class runner and has proved his
worth to one and all in the sport.
Although the latter of the two stallions has not participated in a lot of races, he has maintained a 100 percent winning percentage, which makes him a threat for the best in the business. Moreover, he defeated the might Dawn Approach in his previous outing,
which would have given a boost to his confidence.
Trainer Aidan O'Brien said of his runner, “Ruler Of The World has come out of the Epsom race in great shape and it's all systems go for the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby. We could not be happier with the horse and at the moment he is likely to be our only
runner in the race.”
It will be interesting to see the clash between two great stallions in the Irish Derby, which has attracted some of the best horses from all over the world.
