As an old boxer and fan, I would say that Sugar Ray Leonard was on of the most over rated boxers of all time. Now, in no way am I saying that he was not good, beacause he was, but I don't believe he was as good as he was perceived to be. On more than one occasion he would win fights by dancing and running away and towards the end of a round he would throw a "flurry" of punches that did no damage. This trick seemed to work in his favor through the judges. There were some great fights and no doubt he would kick my ***, but I feel he was very over rated.

Great runner, not quite the greatest,because of the Duran blip.Americas most influential boxer after Ali.both had maximum exposure.......i agree with the old timer.....but he forgets the guy could fight a bit.i have seen him outslug Duran over the final rounds and this was after a pasting from a devil in disguise.also i remember him dishing it out plenty of times to many decent fighters like Hearns.
