The herbicide resistance issue does have solutions and perhaps the best place to start is to consider herbicides as a resource that needs to be preserved. Strategies for resistance prevention follow from there.

Of course an obvious BENEFIT would be if several of your plant types have herbicide resistance, you can kill all the weeds in your yard or garden by blanketing it with herbicide.

A PROBLEM is when the weeds develop cross resistance and then you get super-weeds that nothing can stop.  No one is quite sure yet what the consequences will be from unleashing herbicide resistant genes into nature.
