Suggest me a stock to buy now

Question

I am a first time buyer. I want to buy some shares to start with. I will be a long time investor. Pls suggest a stock where in I could invest 5k now. I know its all complex. Doesnt matter. Just suggest something logical which will have value in long term.

Put in saving instead now, stock market is roller coaster this day, if you guess wrong the day you buy the stock, the next day could fall like no other way, the current stock market is very unstable, any news can erupt the price overnight, and there's nothing you can do about it when you already own the stock. Fact is, if bad news happend either you company or like news of oil skyrocker, next year opening the stock might directly go downhill, and you can't do c**p about it,

Since you are a first time buyer and a long term investor, I believe you will be more satisfied in the long term with a mutual fund than with an individual stock.  The reason is that there is much less specific risk buying a mutual fund since a mutual fund holds many stocks rather than just one.
