"The Art of Electronics" is a great book.  I have a well-used copy, myself.  Another basic book that covers bjt amplfiers much more extensively is:

"Electronic Circuits", David Casasent; Quantum publishers (QPI series).

But... online... here is a really extensive course.  I have linked you to the part on amplifiers, but the overall course is *huge*.

One of the most popular books for analog circuit design is The Art of Electronics by Horrowitz & Hill.  It has lots of practical advice for how to design circuits and help with the calculations necessary--without getting farther into the circuit theory than necessary.  It's a practical design guide.  There are definitely examples of BJT designs to be found there.
