Suggest some veggies!?

Lookin' to cut down on my weight, and a lot of sites talk about how you can eat pretty much all the veggies you want, so I'm looking to get a whole bunch. Please suggest some veggies that I can just open my fridge and start munching on (I hate long preparation). Carrots are good and I'll be having those, but the preparation for carrots is as much as I can stand...dont like cucumbers, or broccoli. Maybe I'm too picky... anyway. thanks!

  1. You will have to buy items that are pre-cut if you dont want any prep time.  That will get expensive.  The only things I can thing of is green beans (great raw) and bagged salads otherwise.

  2. first of all if you are so inclined to eat healthy, you need to stop being LAZY and PICKY.

Long preparation or preparation is rewarding because you are being independent and doing it for yourself...the results are even better when you just taught yourself how to love your self. literally.

besides that rant up above...I just dislike when people sacrifice accuracy for speed..etc.

What I do on my own time is start the week with cut up veggies and make dips, suggested snacks...celery, carrots, and dipping sauce of some sort. Ranch Dressing, what you like. Cucumbers soaking in lemon juice. you should try it. When the time comes to actually eat some things it will be ready for you when you least recall.

out of sight out of mind.

i dont know there are  alot of things you can do its hard to say much if you are a picky person.

  3. Baby carrots have ZERO prep...open and eat

Raw mushrooms (just wipe them off with a damp cloth)

    Cherry or grape tomatoes

    Cauliflower

    Asparagus

    Green peppers

    Fresh snow peas

Squash like yellow squash or zuchinni

    Celery

  4. Peppers, mushrooms, celery.

  5. Try a squash-bake.

Cut up summer squash into 1/4 in round pieces

cup up zucchini into matching 1/4 pieces

Cut up a couple of mushrooms

Add some sliced onion (white or yellow)

*salt & pepper to taste (optional)

spray a pan with non-stick cooking oil and bake them at 350 F.  until they are slightly tender. (about 15-20 min depending on oven)

You can also eat raw squash and zucchini in salads.

There are also several varieties of frozen veggies that you can nuke right in the bag. I think they are by Bird's Eye and called Steamers...but I sometimes by the Kroger knock off brand...they have all sorts of mixed veggies. Most large super markets have them.

  6. Broccoli,carrots, cauliflower, brussel sprouts

  7. At most grocery stores they have steam bags, where all you do is put the vegetables in the bag and put it in the microwave for a couple minutes. I love steaming broccoli and asparagus and adding a little bit of seasoned salt. It's fast, easy, and delicious. You can do this with pretty much any vegetable. Good luck on the weight loss!

  8. Hmmmm

Sweet peas (you can eat them raw)

    tomatoes

Frozen peas (a wierd snack of mine) :)

      Peppers (yumm!)

Well, I can't think of many but I hope this helps!!

  9. GET FRENCH STYLE GREEN BEANS! :)

they're in a can and you just pop them in the microwave for 3 minutes.

put a little salt on them or whatever..

the whole can is only 70 calories and they are sooo good.

  10. Get you some hummus.  Athenos is the best store brand.

Hummus is good high protein dip made out of chick peas, tahini and seasoning.  Get you some zucchini, cauliflower,  bok choy ( the crunchy green), squash, eggplant, celery, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers  and dip it in the hummus.  You'll enjoy it that way.  You can also eat peanut butter with celery or guaca mole with most any veggie.  Make sure to rinse em off.  Veggie wash doesn't hurt.

Edit- salsa is good with veggies too.
