1)Which cue and/or cue tips should I use for masse(ball curve) shots?

2)How do I change cue tips?

3)Why does my chalk or my cue tip rub on bad? I've tried moving the chalk, then moving the cue, nothing works. Maybe shaping it? How do I shape it? With what tool?

4)What is the secret to masse? Is it something like snapping your wrist when you hit or something?

5)Where on the ball do I know FOR SURE where a miscue will occur?

6)When I hit the cue ball with my cue(currently), it just slides down, and does not grip the cue good. I can even barely only curve it about 9 degrees!!! I suck!!!

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  2. Thanks Johnny.

As far as masse's go, you can use anything, it's mostly in your technique.  For the extreme masses, a heavier cue will make them easier.  But I've masse'd with my 19oz playing cue and heavier, specialty masse cues.  You have to hit the cue ball pretty hard and your stroke has to be controlled, going straight through the cue ball.

Changing cue tips is probably best left to professionals.  Assuming you have a glued on tip (not a s***w on or slip on), you have to cut the current tip off, sand the leftover leather/glue so it's flat and perpendicular to the rest of the cue (making sure you don't sand the ferrule down), glue and clamp on a new tip (trying to keep it centered), trim the sides of the tip down to match the ferrule, and finally shape and scuff the tip.  There are lots of tools out there to help with the job, but a lathe is probably the best.

For chalking, make sure you're using a good brand of chalk, like Masters, Silver Cup, or Triangle.  Some of the cheaper chalks just won't go on very well.  Scrape the flat edge of the chalk over the tip, don't try to drill a hole through the center of the chalk.

Email me and I can tell you more, this answer's getting long.
