Suggestions and encouragement?

I just picked up my 15 month old's first pair of glasses from the eye doctor today. After he finishes his nap and eats lunch we get to try to get him to keep them on and get used to them. What suggestions do you have to share? Thanks a ton!

  1. Not sure how helpful this is.. but kids are creatures of imitation. Why don't you and daddy pick up some reading glasses (very weak of course) to wear so that he can be like you!

Also, introduce a teddy bear or other stuffed animal that is wearing glasses first. Then show him that he gets to have them too!

  2. Sorry, I don't have any suggestions, just want to wish you good luck! I have a 13 month old, and I can't imagine how I could get him to keep glasses on! He won't keep anything on or near his head or face, ever! He just thinks it's a game to pull off hats, goggles, masks, etc...

Hopefully someone will have some advise for you. Maybe you could try having some fun distractions right ready when you put the glasses on, that way he won't be so focused on what's on his face, so much as what you've got in front of him for him to play with!

  3. Just keep them on him.  My oldest daughter had glasses at 13 months.  and they were held on by an elastic band that made it difficult for her to take them off.
