Suggestions as to where an 8th grader can volunteer for community service hours?

To graduate, I must complete at least 30 hours of community service. What are some good places I can volunteer at?

  1. SPCAS, church, soup kitchens, Salvo, school fund raising

  3. Join Kidskorps there are a lot of projects and events for hours

  5. Try your local Parks and Recreations department.

    Try Department of Transportation.

    Or you could voluteer your time at an animal shelter.

  6. If you are Catholic, check to see if they have a St. Vincents center, people give clothes and they sell them REALLY cheap (or give them away) to help people in need.

    If you are not Catholic, check with your Preacher or other Religious leader.

    Every community is different and has a different need, just look around!

    You might also check with some Mens service Clubs, Kiwanis, Optimist, Rotary you can help them with their large fund-raisers like Pancake feeds or whatever.

  9. As a soldier i know i for one loved when i got care packages when i was in Iraq! What you could do is join or start your own care package group and start sending things to my battle buddies who are still over there. We love to get letters from kids and anything you send be it food or games or just a note letting us know you care means alot! You could start with americasupportsyou.com, MWR.com and USO.com or any local veterans center like the VFW or Forign legion. Good luck with the volunteering. BTW im not sure if u sending packages or not counts as community service but it should be!

  11. If you are in the Los Angeles area, you could try Food on Foot.  They are an organization that feeds the homeless every Sunday in Hollywood.  You would earn about an hour and a half each time you volunteered.  http://www.foodonfoot.org
