I really want to travel to Scotland and see Glasgow but I am a 24 yr old female and I would be going solo. Any ideas? Should I get a guide, where should I stay? I would love to see the country side and experience life. I just don't want to keep putting this off because I would be going alone. Help me please!!!!!

  1. Well for research and potential places to stay and visit, take a look at the Visit Scotland website (see link below) for much more info as that covers many things. They can perhaps advise you too.

Though it's not Glasgow... Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland,  has just made it into the world's top ten destinations by a leading travel magazine (first UK city to do so).

People do go solo all over the world. You may very well meet others who are also solo. Hope you have a good time if you go.

  2. Well when I was 23 I went to Paris all by my lonesome, and it was the best thing I ever did!

Rule #1 Don't talk people (men especially) that give you that "weird' vibe.  (But try not to tell yourself, its their culture that's why they are talking to me this way" you will understand that more once you go)

Had a guy in the Tuileries Garden near the Louvre that just totally creeped me out...although he was very nice...flattered me...walked up to me speaking french...and when I told him in french, I was American...he complemented me on how french I looked LOL.  The con-artists are out there. Really he wanted money.

Rule #2 Just enjoy.  The best times I had were reading in the museums and sitting in the pubs/cafes really thinking about how their culture was, and enjoying their lifestyle.

    Research, Research Research!

You will enjoy your stay much more if you give yourself an itinerary. You don't have to stick to it hard, but it will keep you on track, so you don' t miss everything your looking forward too.

And last, NEVER tell anyone your there by yourself.

Go, enjoy, you will never regret it. And take lots of pictures!

Ooooo and realize that the journey, and pictures are from the time you leave your house.  The whole experience is worth capturing!

I would be interested to know, how it goes if you do end up going.

  3. Wow, that sounds like a great idea!! I'm 23 myself and would love to do the travelling thing, but seeing as most of my friends have "settled down" I may have to do it solo!!

So any suggestions/advice that anyone has would help me out too!!!

    Thanks!! :-)
