Question:

Suggestions for buying my first record player?

I have bought some vinyl records around thrift/music stores lately, but still I have no clue as to what record player to buy! Should I go used or new? I really have no background with records/players so I don't know much. I want to stay under $150 with a basic setup......

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

  1. I would recommend buying a new Pioneer record player.

  2. Depends on what you plan on doing. Do you plan on becoming a audiophile. I picked up a nice Yamaha tt 300 at a thrift store for $5. If your just starting this maybe the way to go. Just make sure it works and has a stylus. If you want I put a few links below. You should read up some first before buying. The one I want is a little of my price {well allot} right now $24,000. There's allot more to players then you might think. Being able to control the weight of the needle on the record, balance, vibration etc.

When buying records at thrift stores make sure you look at them, many often have scratches that will make them unplayable.

I'm not sure how many I have but put it over 10,000 and that doesn't include 45's.

Also don't put your speakers to close to the player, vibration.
