Suggestions for places to stay for schooolies in Byron Bay, Australia?

My friends and I are going to Byron Bay, Australia for 'Schoolies' in 2009, but are unsure as to where to stay. We want somewhere nice, thats close to the beach and town center, preferably with some 'night life' near it. We don't mind a house or apartments, but would love somewhere with a pool and/or spa. Does anyone know of places?

STUFF BYRON! the place has gone down hill too many people too many drunks, too many punch-ons, crime rate is high........my advice stay in Brunswick Heads it about 5 minutes up the road from Byron , right on the beach, friendly people, NEW apartments, shops an all the rest, but you can still go clubing in byron, and not be worried about some riff raff breaking in and stealing all your stuff while your doing it...hope this helps..;)

You should have a look at www.hotels2go.com.au as I do know they have some accommodation in that area and some of the options will even provide you and your friends with breakfast and/or dinner each day. They have recently launched their website and have lots of great deals. Each day I check, they have more and more hotels listed, so if there isn't much in that area on there now, check back in a few weeks.
