  1. You can do worse than Butlins.  They do options where you can eat there (like school dinners) or self cater.  There are kids clubs and a creche for little ones (payable by the hour).  If you don't mind being with the kids all the time there's plenty to do and if you make friends with someone else there perhaps you could arrange a kid swap where you stay in the room with their kids one night and they stay in with yours the next.  It's always difficult when there's only one parent around and staying in the UK is probably a good decision because you don't have the stress of airports and languages etc.  Most of the holiday parks on www.hoseasons.co.uk or parkdean Holidays will also be good but won't have any childcare facilities but if you bring a good book or some DVD's you can have an early night ready for the next day.  Be aware that prices are particularly high at this time of year because of the school holidays so you could expect to pay around £100 a night for some caravans in Dorset area or thereabouts.  Center Parcs is good if you are an active family but is very very expensive even for the basic lodges.  Another solution would be to go along with another single parent family so you could share the childcare.

  2. holiday parks like butlins or haven are great as there are so many activities for children they wont be bored! its also not too expensive! :)

  3. You may want to checkout www.singleparentholidaysavers.com

I do suggest however that you use a travel consultant, as they can help out if something unexpected arises.

  4. Check these sites - they may give you some ideas -

  5. Try a break in one of the UK's forests. Lots to do, and once you're there the forests are free to roam. Just like holidays were 50yrs ago !

  6. check out www.parkholidays.co.uk

They do offer three or four night deals...might be worth a look.
