I am planning to go on a Europe trip in July 08. Can any one suggest me the best itinerary/places to see in Switzerland for 1 week? I was thinking about Murren and Gimmelwald.

  1. 1 week may be short and don't where you are entering Swiyzerland (Planes: Zurich or Geneva) - (Trains: Basel, Lugano or Geneva)

Get a 1 week Swiss Pass with the train (must be purchased outside of Switzerland)

Go to Zermatt, Interlaken and Jungfrau.

Geneva, Montreux, Bern, Basel and Zurich for the large cities.

Go to Lake Maggiore and Lake of Lugano (Italian speaking part of Swizterland), like Locarno, Lugano, Ponte Tresa.

  2. Well I have never been to those places in Switzerland, but I would highly recommend Lucerne.  It is a beautiful town with several historic places to see in the city such as the Lowkendawl Monument or the Kappelbruck (Spelling).  Also, we took a boat ride across the lake and then took a cogwheel train up to Mt. Pilatus.  It was amazing.  We took a gondola down the mountain which offered fantastic views of the town.  We even saw the cows with the bells on the mountain.  The people of Lucerne are super friendly and chatting with the locals is a must.

  3. Heii....im from Switzerland, i life in Interlaken, that's pretty close to Mürren or Gimmelwald, i know even people who live there...hehe! I make at the moment an exchange year in the U.S, but i will be back in July 08. I think to stay somewhere a week, Gimmelwald and Mürren are not the best places, especially in Summer. Gimmelwald is a little city, and there is nothing to do. But if you wanna to go somewhere close to the mountains, then come to Interlaken!:) Interlaken is between 2 lakes, it's really pretty to stay there in July. We have also 2 train stations, which can bring you to the mountains; i always go with the train to Mürren for Snowboarding. In Interlaken you can go easily to the mountains, and to bigger cities. With the train you are from Interlaken in 45min. in Bern. In Interlaken, there are also pretty good night clubs like "Metro" and "Caverne"......You can still visit Mürren and Gimmelwald, but i just think you will be really boared to stay there a whole week...Just ask me, if you wanna now more:)

I hope i could help you!
