Suggestions for travel locations for female traveling alone...

Many of the 'deals' on travel packages are for 2 people, so as a single I would have to pay more. Same thing with cruises. Looking for interesting, safe, fun places to travel that I can go by myself and not break the bank.

  1. If you want to get back to nature...There is a beautiful river in Texas called The Guadalupe River.  There is a camp ground there called Camp Huaco Springs and they have beautiful RV's to rent set up right on the river.  They are fully loaded with dishes, bbq items, lanterns, chairs etc (you just bring your own food.)  Then you can hike, float on the river, white water rafting, etc..  It is a beautiful place.  Very near the historical town of New Braunfels and Gruene, TX.  They have a winery and a bed & breakfast in Gruene.  Picture postcard beautiful.

  2. I strongly disagree with the suggestion of India and think you should be very cautious of that. An over-populated country with a unique and different lifestyle where you do not speak the language is dangerous, especially at night. Able to spot you as a foreigner, men may take advantage of that- I would never travel to India alone.

I spent a year in Russia in high school and while a good experience  I would not be comfortable there alone and view India as an even greater cultural difference.

I suggest Ireland. I love Dublin- it's an amazing city with plenty of green space. Don't forget a jacket though, it's chilly.

And I live in Austin, which is near New Braunsfels and tubing on the river is fun, a good group activity- but not so much by yourself.
