  1. For a nice soup presentation, make sure to leave a little space at the top of the bowl.  Don't fill the bowl too full.  Put a matching plate beneath the bowl.

For garnishes you should use something that matches the soup.  For example, if it's vegetable soup, you could float a little curl of raw carrot in the middle.  Or if it's a thick cream soup you can put a dollop of sour cream in the middle.  Or you can put a sprig of fresh parsley on top, or even sprinkle with dried parsley or other aromatic fresh or dried herbs that will match the flavor of the soup.  For thick, pale soups, a light sprinkle of paprika can look pretty without doing much to affect the flavor of the soup.  Bacon bits or croutons can also be floated in or on soups to add to the presentation.

  2. It depends on what type of soup you are making.

I sometimes make roasted pepper and do half/half red and yellow pepper to make a king of yin yan design.

Chopped herbs are good such as parsley or chives.

Swirl of cream just spoon on quickly to create your design.

Another option as well as cream (depending on the flavour) is pesto on top.

Croutons and always fun to make and you can use any type of bread and flavouring you like (such as garlic)

  3. Do a little swirl of cream if it is tomato and add a sprig of basil on top-- I would eat it!!:D
