Hi, I want to go for a long drive (300-400km - Day Trip) on this long weekend. Need suggestions as I am new to the country. Would Canbarra be crowded on that day? Thanks in advance.

  1. Plan A:

Take a drive around the Hawkesbury river.  Go via Galstone Gorge and Wisemans ferry.  The kids would love all the hairpin bends on the gorge.  You might like to stop by Crosslands reserve and let the kids out to play in the parklands there.

    Plan B:

Take the coast road to Wollongong and beyond.  At one point the road veers out from the cliff face and curves right out over the ocean on huge pylons.  It is very spectacular.

You could take the drive there via Royal National Park, stop to see the Kangaroos and other sights as you pass though.

  2. Why not try going to the Dawn Service on ANZAC Day?

It's a very worthwhile thing to do.

Yes, Canberra would probably be busy at certain times of the day on ANZAC Day.

  3. come to Wollongong and then drive down to kiama , its great heaps of things for the kids to do , cheap affordable family fun

google Wollongong and see what you can find

i know its not the 400km that you wanted to go but who really wants to go that far with kids in the car )

    have a good weekend

    Cheers

  4. Come for a drive down the coast.. Head past Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama.. I'm pretty sure Wollongong will have something on down by the lighthouse and in Shellharbour along the lake there is a carnival all day long with rides for the kids also. The Kiama seaside markets might be on and Jamberoo Recreation Park closes after that weekend so if you wanna go, its the ideal opportunity.

  5. Yes Canberra will be very busy on Anzac Day . The Blue Mountains are very beautiful can be cold though. Wherever you go take care on the roads lots of accidents happen on long weekends.

See this site below or google blue mountains
