  1. You can't just show up in Italy and stay for longer than 3 months. You have some preparation work to do in your couple of years. Job prospects are better in northern Italy, but you'll need to have a skill set to qualify for a position - there's already a large pool of unskilled workers. You need to think about what kind of a job you want and then do some research to find out where those jobs might be. For example, if you're interested in design & manufacturing of medical equipment, there is a concentration of businesses in Emilia Romagna in and around Mirandola.

Australia and the US are two of the harder places to move to Italy from. Unless you're independently wealthy, you'll need to get a work visa. To get the visa, you have to have a job already lined up and the proper paperwork from the company. You cannot apply for the visa while you're in Italy. Check with the Italian consulate in Australia for requirements for applying for a visa.

It's a lot of preparation and effort to make the move, but it is worth it.  I've been living about two hours north for the past 8 years.

  2. Rome i guess. But sweetie your only 16. Take it slow. Your still in school. Finish school go to colage then think of moving. Take your time. Your still verry younge. I think it would be really cool to live in itally. but sweetie, take time. U have your whole life infront of you.

  3. Well i have stayed in aussie before for a while and i would have to let you know the key is money. If you have money then its all good, but if you are working your *** off just to afford rent thats probably a bad ideal. In that case you would better off befriending somebody already over there or even finding some kind cultural exchange. The only problem with cultural exchanges they put you in places you probably dont want to go .

So i would save up at least 5-8 grand before you go to live there for 6 months. I am not trying to sway you not going at all i think it would be a good and fun experiance to experiance another culture for that period of time before the world makes you grow up.

  6. At your age, my recommendation would be to come here and do a study abroad program. That would give you structure (a place to live, organization, etc) and with a student visa you would be allowed to stay for a longer period of time than if you just came as a tourist.

If after that you still decide you'd like to stay on and work, etc., you could look for a set up while you are here.
