  1. --- have events on Earth Day.

    --- be sure the seniors, poor and homeless have access to services like free meals, shelters, foodbanks.

    --- turn the library into a place where not only books can be read, but people can meet for activities like book clubs and movies and arts & crafts, story times, talks on things like the environment, illnesses, government programs, etc..

    --- have a building where teens and children can hang out.

    --- do polls and surveys that find out what residents of the community would like to have offered.

    --- have a "community database" for services like pet sitting and dog walking, help with errands, housekeeping and lawn maintanence

    --- have contests where local residents can win services from local businesses.

    --- have dinners and other events that raise money for things like new swings in the park or flowers on the green.

    --- have great volunteer services...things like visiting the elderly or doing gardening on town propery or help with recycling.

    --- have a very thorough recycling system

    --- how about a community garden where all who help with the garden get free vegetables from it.  

    --- local farm co-ops for selling veggies, fruit, goats milk, etc..

    --- have a bartering system where residents can exchange goods and services.

    --- start a freecycle group

    --- be sure to offer a lot of free and inexpensive things for entertainment.

    --- a community swimming pool.

    --- a morning tai-chi class offered by human services.

    --- a pet adoption program

    --- summer picnics and concerts for the community to hang out together.

    --- interfaith services where people of different faiths can get to know each other.

    --- incentives for living greener.

    --- a nurse who can point people in the right direction for different health-related services.

    --- a community database for services businesses in the community will provide at a discounted rate or even better for free (cutting grass for seniors, free appliances for the needy, etc.).
