Question:

Suitable Diet for an Athlete?

My body weight is not ideal for a central midfielder who plays at a high standard against older age groups. I am seventeen years old and only weigh 10 stone 6 pounds. I regularly go to the gym to train. My Coach and myself think an ideal weight would be 11 stone and 6 pounds. Being a vegetarian, i am unsure what certain foods are suitable and available, which would help me to gain wieght! I would be very grateful if someone could help. Also maybe someone in a similar position could share their weekly diet? Ricky

  1. I am not vegetarian so I can't help you. I eat fish and chicken and I am 11st 7lb.

  2. Fast food

  3. Eat lots of carbs(pasta dishes, etc). Will encourage healthy weight gain, as long as you continue to eat fresh fruit and veg, beans, etc. Will also give you energy(no bad thing if your an athlete).

  4. Pasta would help or also beans. Beans have the protein you need and pasta is a heavy food. It's also made from eggs giving you that little extra boost. I suggest eating the pasta the night before a competition.
