Im considering using a train as part of my trip to and from Heathrow. I will have a holdall and small trolley style suitcase. Is there room to stow a small suitcase on the overhead rail on a high speed train, how about the heathrow express?

I want to keep my suitcase in sight ideally.

  1. if it really is small you could keep it on your lap with your holdall at your feet, then you would be able to see its ok all the time

    all the best

  2. Nice to meet a sensible person,at last. I use Nottingham Mid. station, and always amazed at the amount of luggage people traipse about with them, then expect other people to give them a hand, lugging it up/down steps, which of course i do.

    anyway,have a good journey.

  3. There definately are restrictions on suitcases etc on UK trains, but they won't affect your journey as you are clearly travelling with a realistic amount of luggage.

  4. There are no restrictions on suitcases on UK trains. Your load is not unreasonable. Most trains have racks for luggage at each end of the carriage, although you can get a small suitcase on the overhead rack on High Speed Trains. Heathrow Express was designed for travellers with a great deal more luggage than you will have.
