Going away tomorow, weighed suitcases 1 is 15k and the other two are edging very close to 20k. We are only allowed 15k each. What do you reckon will happen. Flying with Thomas Cook. xx

  1. You will have to pay excess baggage.

  2. i think that they charge you per kilo overweight, because the reason for the weight restriction is fuel i think..

  3. Lose the extra weight or be charged I think the going rate is £12 per kilo.

Plus dont forget the presents and goods you'll buy abroad when you get back will add further weight.

  4. It is up to the airline you are flying with, not the travel company as far as weight for airlines.  Thomas Cook, to my knowledge, books trips but they use existing carriers.  That being said either Thomas Cook or the airline's website can give you information on the weight for baggage and the cost for excess baggage (which can be quite high these days).  Be warned also that some airlines limit the number of bags you can bring.  Since you say "we" I assume that there are 2 or more travelling.  If there are 3 then you will have to deal with excess baggage charges only.  I would look at what you are bringing however as often people tend to overpack.  For a 7 day trip I bring virtually everything in a carryon bag.  The only things I had in my suitcase last time was a brush, nail clippers (with a file), and spare shoes.
