Sukamta Evert eases into round-of-16 at Indonesian International Challenge – Badminton news
Indonesia’s Sukamta Evert stretched his winning run in Men’s Singles category and reached into the round-of-16.
He crushed his compatriot, Andrew Susanto, in the second round of the Prim-A Indonesia International Challenge 2013, on Wednesday, July 3, in Surabaya.
The in-form Sukamta, who is the sixth seed in Men’s Singles main round of this championship, was not in a mood to prolong the rallies in this contest. He took just 32 minutes to give a severe lesson to his teammate, Andrew.
Sukamta was on a different level in the arena as he played with staggering precision all the way. He finished off this straight-set battle in a superb fashion with a huge total of 21-10 and 21-11.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Andrew failed to cope up with the pace of rallies. He remained struggling in taking the bird from all areas and eventually crashed out without showing his brilliance at any stage.
In the first game, Sukamta did not let his opponent to get familiar with the court conditions as he played with incredible speed. He employed aggressive strategy and took an early lead without showing any respect to his lower ranked challenger.
Sukamta targeted the sidelines for executing powerful smashes and also played flawless game at net. He easily took a huge lead on the scoreboard until the end of opening half.
After the break, the in-form Sukamta continued his positive and dominating run on court. He did not face any problem in creating gaps and bagged the first game with a stunning 21-10 score on the board.
In the following set, Andrew tried to match the pace of rallies but he failed to make the right shot selection. He again remained miles behind at the initial stage.
On the contrary, Sukamta sailed smoothly in the opening half of second set and he was far ahead of his rival until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the impressive Sukamta did not face any considerable trouble in maintaining his upper hand. He dictated the pace of rallies and easily clinched the set with a spectacular 21-11 score on the board.
