Sula Two likely to thrive in Odgers Berndtson Handicap
The Ron Hodges trained bay mare, Sula Two, is all set to seal first position in the high-profile race of the Odgers Berndtson Handicap that will take place at Sandown racecourse on Thursday, July 26. The Class 4 event is scheduled to begin at 3:40 (GMT).
On the good to firm track of 1 mile, 2 furlongs and 7 yards, the five-year-old veteran runner will compete against 8 rivals for the prize money worth £4,075.
The maverick mare marvellously won the Be Wiser Insurance Gentleman Amateur Riders’ Handicap over 1 mile and 2 furlongs at Newbury on June 14. Being a non-favourite runner, she triggered a big upset to bag a surprising success.
The brilliant daughter of Sulamani out of There’s Two stepped ahead to grab a grand victory with the favourite tag in the Beaumont Robinson Ladies’ Derby Handicap (Lady Amateur Riders) (Div I). The high-stake race was held at Ripon on June 21.
These two consecutive conquests tuned up the victor’s morale well. The Richard Prince owned mare moved on to finish 4th in her last start on July 6. That was the Cardsave Laura Horne & Jane Cardwell Fillies’ Handicap, held at Doncaster.
As a whole, the D. R. Tucker bred sprinter has won 5 of her total 21 starts so far. If she manages to run confidently, no one can deny her victory today.
However, Night And Dance can give somewhat tough time to Sula Two. The Clive Cox trained bay filly nicely won the £32 Free At 32red.Com Maiden Stakes at Wolverhampton on November 12, 2011.
The daughter of Danehill Dancer out of Evensong went on to finish first elegantly in the R & R Ices Fillies’ Handicap at Bath on April 20, 2012.
Like Sula Two, Night And Dance also gained 4th spot in her last start at Doncaster on April 28. Thus, these two runners stand almost head-to-head. In this situation, a rip-roaring battle is expected between the two; however, Sula Two will win
in the end.
By and large, the event will be filled with thrill and excitement. Good luck to all the nine contestants.
