Sulis Minerva to bounce back into form in the Follow Totepool On Facebook And Twitter Handicap at Folkestone
The Class 4 Follow Totepool On Facebook And Twitter Handicap is to be staged at Folkestone over five furlongs on Thursday, 5th April. The race has attracted a lineup if eight four-year and older thoroughbreds who will contest for the purse that
is worth £4, 528.
None among the lineup has raced at Folkestone but there are quite a few who have raced through the new season and have posted victories against their names.
Sulis Minerva, Arakan’s five-year-old bay mare out of mare Lacinia, bagged the seasonal debut by winning the Blue Square Sprint Series Round 3 Handicap (Qualifier) (Division I) on 21st January at Lingfield over six furlongs.
She had Raul Da Silva riding when she led the 9/2 favourite runner up of the race, The Strig, by just half a length. Sulis Minerva had to earn the victory from the threat who was closing in speedily.
Settling into the third slot was Nubar Boy.
Her final start of the previous season resulted in a victory too. Sulis Minerva won the Did Big Money Totejackpot Rollover Handicap (Division I) on 31st December at Lingfield over six furlongs.
The 9/2 favourite winner accomplished this victory with Raul Da Silva guiding her through the track. Amosite was the runner up of the race and was soon joined in by Paperetto on the other end of the wire.
Sulis Minerva’s second and third attempt of the new season were failures but today as she steps down for her fourth outing, she might as well want to stride back into the winning form.
The only time that she raced at Folkestone was on 12th April 2010 in the Brian Barnes 65th Birthday Celebration Median Auction Maiden Stakes over six furlongs. The race was won by Free For All as Sulis Minerva followed in as the runner
up.
The 6/5 favourite of the race, Flouncing, finished fifth on the lineup of nine.
It has been a while since her last outing at Folkestone but the outcome was not really disappointing, a second score is decent enough. Today she has to race against competitors who have already won during the new season and have a fair amount of experience.
