The former Portsmouth midfielder is excited with a move to San Siro, and looking forward to making a mark with the Rossoneri.
The 27-year-old is ecstatic with his move to A.C Milan, and insists that it was too good an opportunity to decline.
Muntari sealed a deadline day move from cross-city rivals, Inter Milan, on a free transfer. The Ghanaian midfielder joined the Nerazzurri from Portsmouth for approximately 14 million Euros in 2008. However, he never became a permanent
member in La Beneamata line-up, and was used as a fringe player.
The former Udinese star started only four games for the Nerazzurri this season, becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of opportunities at his disposal. The switch to Milan might give him the opportunity to prove his worth
and make his mark in the Serie A.
While talking to Gazetta dello Sport on the late timing of the transfer, Muntari said that he was confident that the transfer would go through smoothly.
“I wasn’t the first player to change shirts but not city. It seemed like an excellent opportunity for me and I accepted it straight away. I had already spoken to Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri before the African Cup of Nations.
I was then welcomed to the club by Vice-President Adriano Galliani and director Ariedo Braida.”
A reason for the heightened interest in the transfer was because the 27-year-old moved from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan to their bitter rivals, AC Milan. The two clubs have had natural animosity against each other due to their history. However,
he is not the first player to change from the black and blue to the red and white, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Clarence-Seedorf-c9275 and Andrea Pirlo having switched their loyalties in the past.
Turkish side, Galatasaray, was also interested in signing the want-away midfielder, but he opted to choose the Rossoneri.
Milan had an extremely busy January transfer window with Muntari being the fifth player they have signed this winter, mainly due to the growing list of injuries in the midfield.
