Summary of the Faysal Bank Super 8 T20 2011 – Part Two
Continued from the previous part …
Although, Karachi ended up on the wrong side of the result this year as well but some of their players like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sohail-c90628 was
the highest wicket-taker of the tournament.
Karachi is a star studded team but they seem to be become the ‘chokers’ of Pakistan’s domestic cricket, just like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in international cricket. They will have to come harder in the next event, in order to silence their critics.
Lahore Lions
The Lions turned out to be the best team of their group and their star players like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aizaz-Cheema-c961 lived up to their potential and displayed brilliant performances. The biggest challenge for Lahore was to come good
against the Stallions and they did come good against the toughest opposition of their group.
The only disappointment for Lahore was the performance of their captain and vice-captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamran-Akmal-c70122. The two of them failed to play any big knock in the tournament and relied on the young guns to deliver the goods. This is one of the
major reasons behind Lahore’s defeat in the semi-final off the hands of Rawalpindi.
Sialkot Stallions
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions are without doubt one of the strongest teams of the domestic cricket of Pakistan as they have won the domestic T20 tournament five times in the past. However, their bowling has always played a huge part in Sialkot’s success over the years,
but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sarfraz-Ahmed-c88818.
Their batting was as strong as ever in the presence of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket.
Ali did not score a lot of runs in the tournament as he was slotted too low in the batting order. However, his half-century against Lahore http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 in the group match caught the eyes of the cricket analyst in Pakistan, who have started to rate him as a future
star.
Faisalabad Wolves
Another team with a number of experienced players like Misbah ul Haq and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898, but they failed to live up to their expectations in the event. The Wolves won the inaugural T20 Cup in 2004 and since then, they have been considered as a big force
in the domestic limited overs competitions. But they did not look the same team in tournament as their two premier bowlers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859 were not available to play for the Wolves.
Misbah and Hafeez also failed to play any big knock in the tournament and as a result, they failed to qualify for the semi-finals after losing from Karachi http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dolphins-c781 and Rawalpindi Rams.
Faisalabad’s young batsman, Asif Ali scored a magnificent hundred in the opening match of the tournament against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Multan-c819 Tigers. However, he failed to make any kind of an impression in the next two matches.
