Hi,

My son is 3 and half yrs old and goes to a private Montessori school. They have certain activities for the summer but its too expensive plus they are charging extra for swimming lessons, etc. and again extra for after care.

I have no idea about this stuff. Could someone please tell me if there is any place which is not too expensive where I can enroll my son for summer activities. I can search for some public schools in my area and inquire about it.

Please advise.

  1. Try your local YMCA or Rec Department. And follow your idea of checking out local schools to see if they offer anything. Plus check wherever you go swimming in the summer... they may offer swimming lessons for less then your school camp. Summer activities are GREAT for preschoolers and I'm glad you recognize the importance of keeping him social and active during the summer! Look for preschool summer camps, swim lessons, art camps, music activities, playgroups with his friends from school... anything to keep him interacting with other kids and using his energy. It will also help with your sanity to have a few hours to yourself! :-)

  2. try the local YMCA or hire a babysitter that going to take him on daily outings

  3. I know where I live 3 years old is to young for the stuff your asking for . Try your local Y.M.C.A  I hope that is of some help

  4. *cough* 3 yrs old *cough*

A 3 year old doesnt need after summer activities go with his interests/hobbies (if he has any). Let him do what he wants to. A three year old cant do much at summer activities anyways and will barely remember anything that he learns. Save your money and spend it on somthing else.

Send him to a camp when he's 5-6 years old.

  5. I am a Montessori Directress at a Private school in the country. I also Au pair two of the kids in the school. What I do with them is that I take them to watch movies,we will cook up something at home in the kitchen,we swim, make stuff, read books,go to the library, draw, colour, also play with the toys.

I had the choice of taking the month of for vacation & the kids going for holiday programme at the school, but the thing is the one is still quite young (she is also three). My thing is at their age, I would also get a bit board of seen school. The choice was completly up to the kids. The parents had sat them down & asked them what their choice was,the kids had said that they did not want to go for holiday programme but rather be out of school.

I rate ask your son what he would like to do & go with it from their. Sometimes I know it just makes them feel a bit more important & that you taking a keen interest in what they want

    GoodLuck
