Question:

Summer Homeschooling?

Can anyone offer up some suggestions for unique, interesting, and educational activities I can look into for the summer? I already have a long list, but if anyone can offer an interesting idea I'd certainly look into trying it. The current list is...

-Volunteering at Special Equestrians

-Horseback Ridinng camp (if anyone knows of a good one in Florida, let me know)

-Blind Sports Camp

-National Federation of the Blind convention

-Science Fiction convention with friends

-Lifeguard class

-Childcare/babysitting class (need to renew certification)

-Either try Tai-kuan-do (sp?) or Judo

-Guitar camp (need a good one in Fl)

None of this is set in stone yet, but if anyone has any suggestions for other ideas please let me know.

P.S. Does anyone else find it amusing that when a homeschooler posts a question of this nature, the socialization n***s tend to stay silent?

  1. another place you can think of, & I was lasttold theres one in Florida (not sure where though), but what abotu Space camp.

Im currently saving up the $$ for that for my 11 year old son, who loves space.

we live in Kansas, & if we can pull this off, it will also be a summer vacation for us all.

were also hopeing to go to Gettysburg too, my son really loves to learn about the civil war, & wants to see that place so bad. His grandpa is from that area, & he loves listeningto grandpa talk about it, & look at grandpa's civil war collectibles.

Good luck in all you chose to do, I hope you guys are happy with it.

  2. My son is going to a spy camp near DC.

Last summer he did LiveWire at WDW - week long educational / fun camp with the run of the parks.  Behind the scenes tours of a lot of the rides (a little study of the physics, sound studios and stuff).

I'll try to think of some more stuff...

*** UPDATE: What about scuba diving (lessons)?  If you are anywhere near Wakiva springs that would be a good place.

Seaworld also has some fun / educational programs.

With the election season in full swing, you could volunteer locally for your favorite political party.

If you want to get really crazy: Sky Diving! Geronimo!

  3. "Socialization n***s", uh? lol....

    The lifeguard class sounds cool.

A science fiction convention? lol....That sounds fun, if you're in to that type of stuff, haha.

I used to do alot of horseback riding when I was younger, I found that to be really fun.

    =)
