  1. try a pyramid technique where you build a base with long distances or times rather with at most an hour and half run but start out easy with a few 30 minute runs and then bring it up until you can run easy for an hour and a half at most. after that start working on strength by running 400's and 800's at most with a set time you want it under to push yourself depending on how fast you can run them and do many of them up to 10 of those with a set amount of rest time too but not so much that you are well rested. you want to still be tired before you start the next one. also you can do some upper body lifting and/or leg lifting to increase overall strength. then go into a speed phase where you're running 200s 400s and/or 800s at a faster pace but a long recovery time where you can feel recovered before you do it again. after this phase you're peaking so you take it down to 30 minute runs again. that's how my xc coach has done it for the past 3 years and our team has gotten immensely better.

  2. The hardest thing will be to run EVERYDAY. You'll be tempted to take a day off here or there, then 2 and so on.

If you run everyday at least 3 miles a day, you'll be in good shape
