I'm a high school student who studies Spanish.

I have never taken French before.

Does anyone know of a program where I could stay in France for about a month without any previous French experience?

  1. Try to visit this website which I just came accross, a lot of information on study abroad, hopefully may help you:

  2. Student Ambassador programs goes by the name of "People to People"

  3. Yes! I am a program advisor with Intrax Study Abroad and we offer summer study abroad opportunities for high school students. We have a great study abroad program in France for the summer with two locations: Amboise and La Rochelle. The program is four weeks in length and takes place in the month of July. Students are living within a French family homestay and attending a language Mon-Fri for about 3 hours a day. Students are immersed within French culture and excursion include: day trips to the regions famous chateaux, bike-riding in the French countryside, trip to Leonardo da Vinci's home, as well as a program finale in Paris. There is no previous French language study required to participate in the program. For more info check out: Intrax Study Abroad.

  4. You can easily do an intensive language study program.  Most give you the option of either living with a host family (great for practicing your new language skills) or with fellow students also studying.  Languages Abroad is a good company for those programs.  Check out STAtravel.com.  they have a full section on their website with programs you may be interested in, some are just language and other have other coursework.  But the only difficulty is that most of the study programs will be for university level students.  Also look at the Rotary Foundation which sends high school and college students abroad, but generally for longer than a month.

  5. Check out this directory that features some well-respected study abroad programs: http://www.macquil.com/abroad.php

You should also consider contacting the French Alliance and seeing if they have any month long programs for new students.

    Good luck!
