Summer activity ideas??

can anybody think of any activities that kids form ages 9-12 can do during the summer??? thanks!!

I'll suggest the one thing I did at that age (and before, and after, too).  I read every book I could get my hands on.  A trip once a week to the library might be fun.  They usually have some time of story time or other activity on a regular basis.
