  1. I wonder why you like to travel there in the rainy season, it's very hot in summer, from  October to February are the cool months to stay in Vietnam

  2. 1. Even though Hue is located 400 miles North of Saigon (as the crow flies. Road mileage is about 600 miles); it's actually much hotter in Hue in the summertime than it is in Saigon (over 100 deg. F in Hue, just 90 deg. F in Saigon)  so beware. Stay only in hotels with A/C  (and travel in A/C vehicles).

    2. The sun rays are much fiercer in Vietnam, especially on the beach so use plenty of sunblock, wear a hat and drink plenty of water (out of bottles only). You can get a very bad case of sunburn even if you have a  dark  complexion but much worse if you have a light one.

    3. If you travel by road from Nha Trang to Hue, make sure you make stops in Hoian (Ancient Town) and My Son (Cham ruins) along the way.. They are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites worth seeing. If you fly to Hue from Nha Trang, ou can visit those sites by backtracking by road from Hue.

    4. Summertime is smack in the midddle of the rainy season throughout Vietnam so carry an umbrella or a rain poncho (folded into a tiny pack you can carry in your pocket. You can get it from any US supermarket  or drugstore before you leave).

    5. I'm sure you have the Imperial Citadel and the Emperors' Tombs on your list for your Hue visit already but make sure you schedule enough time to see them. For more tips on Hue, go to

  3. Flight medic's beer garden is a great place, I've been there a couple of times. My wife's cousins own Cafe 357 on the "clock" rotary on Saigon's Dien Bien Phu street, Great seafood ! Also, Windsor Towers has a great disco (pricey though).

I'll be in Ben Tre in the middle of July/August. My wife's family owns the lottery stand at the market just outside the ferry dock. If you're there at that time period, ask him to give me a call (anh Rick). I'll be happy to show you around.

  4. the weather is hot in the summer in VN.and this is a raining season, so i think u know what to bring.

    Have a nice trip

  5. If you are staying in SaiGon go to the Pacific Bia Tuoi Garden.  Cheap beer and cheap great food.  Nha Trang is a very pretty place to visit too.

The best is Hue.  The scenery with the ancient tombs and the Forbidden City are unforgetable.  The Royal Food there is so yummy and the people are so friendly.  Orchard Hotel is a good safe and clean place to stay.  A ride on the Perfume river is beautiful.  So much to do.

The second best place to visit is not on your list.  I would pick Hanoi.  It is a fun place with lots of Historical places to visit, good eats and cheap drinks.  To many places to list.

Do some searching on Webcrawler.com Yahoo.com and Google.com.  Tripadvisor.com is really a good resource page too and that is where I would start.

Have a good time. Cheers from flightmedicine

  6. Leave as much time as poss for Nha Trang, very lively after 10,sailing club on the beach,Y not bar till 4,laze on a 5km beach all day.Hotels from 10usd to 1000 usd and seafood resteraunts where you wont believe the prices.[cheap]Never been to Hue,but heard its nice if you like looking at old walls and stuff, phan thiet is boring unless you want to winsurf or play golf.Never heard of Ben Tre,Saigon ok,but very poluted and hard work to travel around.
