Summer put to good use: Ashley Smith reaps benefits

It took Ashley smith a full year to change her focus and set her priorities straight.
After spending more than a year at the Arizona State University and never touching a single club, Smith became a normal student only to later realize the importance of golf in her life.
After revamping her old ties with golf, the twenty one year old female golfer has been able to qualify for this week’s final stage of LPGA Q-School after becoming the only Canadian to be able to step into the top thirty golfers
to play the 5 round ultimate stage.
For this golfer from the Glencoe Golf & Country Club, golf has literally been the only thing in her life. It is what life is for her. The 2010 spell played by Smith has been an amazing display of what the twenty one year old gofer
is capable of and given what she exhibited, it hadn’t been much of a surprise for the masses supporting her.
The young Calgarian will be playing the initial round on Wednesday at Daytona Beach, Fla. and is eager to play one of her best 5 rounds. Provided the earlier stated goal is accomplished by the twenty one year old golfer, Smith
would be able to step into the race for the gleaming prize money.
Discussing her strategy for the final round at the Q school, the twenty one year old Calgarian said that it’s all about confidence. She said that she would simply ‘make it’ and then charge the battle field with her confidence.
What Smith basically means is that golfers need to have faith in themselves since nearly every player is out there to achieve qualification.
“You need to go in with confidence” She said.
So faith seems intact for her. For the amazing 2010 season that includes one win from major amateur events, the Ontario Women’s Match Play event and the Alberta Ladies Amateur, the golfer owes it all to her recent summer.
The Alberta Ladies Amateur event sided with Smith after the female golfer held a 17 stroke lead above other golfers and carded a 278 with a 6 under in July.
Time-outs are usually taken when everything turns into too much, considering the one and a half year break Smith took, it seems as though she was just plain bored-of everything.
Her summer had been spent refocusing her future plans. According to the twenty one year old female golfer, she didn’t touch her clubs for a pretty long stretch which made her miss golf, her life, even more and she revamped her
trek.
“My dedication to golf came back” Smith said.
With Smith charged up all over again, she signed on with former PGA player Gabriel Hjertstedt as her coach and produced a remarkable fall term. The Calgarian thus qualified for the final stage of the LPGA Q-school and made it to
the pre-qualifying for the Ladies European Tour the previous week.  Other than that, the twenty one year old will be playing for the tour status in Europe from the 15th of December till the 19th of this month.
