Question:

Summer reading, The Old Man and The Sea?

I read the book basically twice already, and I found 3 themes, 2 ironies, two allusions, couple figurative languages, vocabulary, and one conflict.

But I need help though.

I need to find one more conflict (man vs.himself) and one allusion, five passages that reveal Santiago's attitude toward nature, and characterization questions.

How does Hemingway describe Santiago?

How does the boy see Santiago?

How do the townspeople see Santiago???

Please please please help me, I'm desperate.

Also, please give page numbers too, since I need to annotate my book.

THANK YOU!!

  1. sorry i don't know page numbers

hemingway describes santiago as old and a really hard worker who wants to catch one last marlin before retiring

the boy sees santiago as a hero, someone to idolize

the townspeople see santiago as an old man

a man vs. himself conflict could be manolins struggle of not knowing if santiago is okay while he is out at sea and leaves manolin behind

i'm not sure about the others, sorry

and i don't know the page numbers because i gave my book back to the library

    but i hope this helps!
