Summer reading for a 10th grader?!

i'm going into 10th grade this upcoming school year. and our assignment was to read a book by an american author, for example last of the Mohican's. i was wondering if i could read the sisterhood of the traveling pants by ann brashares.. i mean technically she's an american author. should i read that or just stick to last of the mohican's?

the sisterhood of the traveling pants is a great book. ask your mom or dad what one they would read! it is up to you i mean whichever one you think you would enjoy the most!!!
