I read a book for summer reading, called Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. And then i had to choose a selction from the text and write about my thoughts, questions, feelings, and connections. But i am having trouble writting about the selection i chose but i dont want to change it. so can someone write their thoughts, questions, feelings and connections to give me an idea. i would reaaallly appretciate it.

my selection from text:

" open up a paperclip and scratch my left wrist. Pitiful. If a suicide attemptis a cry for help, then what is this? A wimper, a peep? I draw windowcracks of blood, etching line after line untill it stops hurting. It looks like i arm-wrestled a rosebush."

  1. Sooo.. this excerpt is saying how the main character is incredibly distraught by being raped, but definitely not enough to kill herself or even seriously try. This is also using humor to discuss a very serious matter, which is how most humans deal with pain and horrible events. It's a coping method.

I think it's kind of amusing, but that's my personal opinion, you may find it disturbing that she's reacting in this way.
