Summer training plan... caught between cross country and swimming?

I've been into running for 3 years now and I'm a freshman in highschool. I have also had an intnterst in swimming, but I've never tried it competitively before. So, this summer I am going to do a club swim team at night, mon-fri. I will also do cross coutnry camp in the morning, mon & tues, thurs. & fri. Do you think this would be too much or does it sound good? Also, I am undecided about whether to do cross country or swimming in the fall. If I did cross country, would the extra swimming be beneficial?

  1. You should do  Cross Country but keep up with swimming in the fall. Then, do Swimming in the winter but keep up with your running. Don't let either down. Sounds like not to much, but for how long? 1 or 2 months of that is good.

  2. Do triathlon! Or aquathlon (relatively new variation, just involving swimming and running, races are usually run/swim/run)...

  3. I would do swimming. If it doesn't work out, wait until the next season for cross country.
