Summer work experience in Canada (live in Scotland)?

My partner and I are 20 and plan to eventually move to Canada. However, we have never actually been so next year we want to go over for three summer months to hopefully get some work experience and also a bit of travel.

We don't know which area would be best to try, somewhere warmer than Scotland preferably!

  1. Sorry to rain on your parade..........

You can't "just show up and get a job in Canada. " There is a process that you have to comply with, in order to get a Tempoary Work permit, to be legally employed in Canada.

Go to this Canada Immigration website and READ the information about a TWP. You can down load the application forms there too.

    Go Here:

    Jim B. Toronto.

  2. Maybe spend your first of three summers just travelling the country coast to coast and get a feel for where you'd like to spend the next couple or move. Fly into Halifax and drive, train or bus across to Vancouver. Fly back out from there. Stop in Quebec City/ Montreal/ Ottawa/ Toronto/ Winnipeg/Regina/ Calgary/ Vancouver .......that alone can take a summer.

Summer anywhere in canada is pretty good.. weather ranges between 20-30 C most days but can get higher on hot days.

Winter well most of Canada is colder than scotland but the West Coast (Vancouver/Victoria) remains mild rarely below -5 with a snow day here or there but it rains a ton in the winter!

If your into outdoor sports climbing, cycling, sking, boarding , kayak etc. the west coast is worth considering

  3. Warmer than Scotland?? Not sure how cold it gets there...

In the summer we (in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) range anywhere from +20ish to +40ish with the humidex.

The winter, however, is a totally different story!

Try using www.theweathernetwork.com. You can pick different cities so the the weather there right now, and you can do historical weather checks.
