Summons for jury service as a full time student?

Is it possible to get this postponed until I have finished my degree? I think it would be really detrimental to my studies having to miss possibly several weeks of lectures and lab classes.

  1. If you are a full time student i think that there's a spot on the form that says that you're exempt, you just have to give some info and they'll stop mailing it to you

  2. Check with the court system that has summonsed you, some will excuse.

  3. It is possible, but it depends on the judge. Some don't see work (or study) as being a reason for postponement.

  4. I believe it is a valid excuse. You should check the documentation they sent you.

  5. you can write to them and tell them why you cant do the serive, thats what I did and they let me not do it,

  6. Initially, you should write to the court explaining your predicament and ask for service to be postponed.  However, jury service, is and remains an important role for citizens to participate in.  When I qualified as a doctor I was summoned and enjoyed the case immensely.  However, it did set back my medical training for nearly six weeks.  I asked for a postponement too and they promptly refused.

  7. Contact them and let them know.  There are certain factors that they will let you out of it for.  When I was in college they let me out because I was attending school over a 100 miles from my hometown.
